B&W: Symbolic Items: Using the "rule of thirds" and "fill the frame"

Objective

In this assignment you will continue to explore the unit theme of "Picturing Yourself" by applying the "rule of thirds" and "fill the frame" while demonstrating that you can shoot, develop and print black and white film.

You will take pictures of objects that represent you (no people in your pics), use the rule of thirds and fill the frame in your pictures, and print a contact sheet and two prints.

Directions

  1. Read the web sites below to make sure you understand what the “Rule of Thirds” is and how to “Fill Your Frame”.
  2. Take pictures of objects using the "rule of thirds" and "fill the frame"
  3. Develop your film.
  4. Print a contact sheet. Show your contact sheet to Mr. McMurray and we will select a photo.
  5. Print two photos.
  6. Post the following to the student gallery: 
    -Contact Sheet
    -Two prints
    -Reflection: How successful is the composition. What is good about it and what will you do differently in the future? Are there problems with the craftsmanship, and if so how will you fix them in the future?
